Lady with a Cello

The instrument stands upright between the knees, its honey-toned body traced with gold scrollwork and four strings running to the carved head. Her left hand rests along the fingerboard while the right carries the bow well out to the side. The gown is pale aqua with cream pleated cuffs and a laced front, the wide skirt printed with small flowers and spread across the base. Rocaille shells and gold lining finish the pedestal she sits on.
