The old man has settled sideways onto the ground, right arm braced behind him, a cut-glass tumbler tipped in his left hand. His brown coat has fallen open over a pale buttoned waistcoat, and the wide hat sits crushed against his hair. Beside him a straw-covered flask stands in a wicker basket, with sausage slices spread on a white cloth. One heavy boot has rolled outward, fixing the whole figure in its slouch.
