First Kiss

The two sit close on a stone bench, the boy leaning right to her ear, their hands joined over her lap. She lifts a palm to her cheek, the pink bowed hat pushed back off her hair. His blue coat with a lace jabot and striped breeches hold the left of the composition; the cream skirt printed with small flowers fills the right. A sheaf of wheat is tucked under the bench on that side. At the right edge of the base stands a basket packed with modelled wildflowers.
