Peasant Woman with Apples

The woman turns half away, a wicker basket of roses and small blooms hooked over her bent elbow, her raised right hand holding a gilt-rimmed cup. A wide white hat is pushed back off the brow, a plait falling from beneath it. The bodice is orange with lacing at the front, and the cream overskirt is caught up to reveal a lilac underskirt banded in gold above a ruffle. An oval gilt-scrolled socle carries the figure.
