The First Omelette

The omelette is already airborne, hanging just above the white toque while the girl watches it with her head thrown back. Her right hand holds the pan aloft; the left is stopped short at her chest, lips pursed. Two long auburn plaits fall over a yellow dress worn under a white apron. The apron is painted with small butterflies and quick coloured strokes, and tiny modelled flowers ring the edge of the base.
