Vanity (Lady Primping)

The hand mirror is held out at arm's length and she looks straight into it, her left hand drawn up to the collar. A crimson jacket with gilt buttons and frogging ends at the waist, where the cream skirt begins its heavy drapery. Vertical garlands of small blue flowers run down the underskirt, and a gold line finishes the hem. A dark hat with a feather perches on the piled hair, and the whole pose turns on that lifted shoulder.
