Clown with Bass Drum

The clown lifts the bass drum almost level with his head, gripping a blue-headed beater in each hand. His teal jacket has cream sleeves and two silvered pompoms swinging on cords; the trouser legs are mismatched, one white and one red, both painted with gold stars. The face is whitened with red nose and cheeks, brown curls pushing out from under the hat. The drum shell is ochre within a dark wooden hoop, and a small dog's face is painted on the base.
