Don Quixote and Sancho Panza

A large sculptural group of two figures and a horse. Don Quixote, in cuirass and helmet, lays a long lance across the saddle, a round shield with gilt relief fixed at his hip. The gaunt white horse drops its head almost to the ground, mane and tail modelled in stiff strands. Sancho Panza walks alongside in a straw hat and red breeches, keeping a hand on the rein. On the stony base an open book lies beside an inkwell, its text written out in full.
