Shepherdess with Flowers (Pastoral)

The girl steps forward with her shoulders slightly turned, a wide wicker basket under her left arm heaped with yellow, blue and white wildflowers. Her right hand holds a small posy against her chest. A blue kerchief is knotted under the chin, worn over an orange dress with a dark bodice and a printed white apron. Black strap shoes and short socks show below the hem, and the base is modelled as a flowering tussock above a gilt-scrolled socle.
