He sits on a stone ledge with the violin tucked beneath his chin and the bow drawn down across the strings. A full-sleeved white shirt with gilt cuffs is tucked into a leather belt, and over it goes a waistcoat worked in dense patterning. Turquoise trousers end in tall black boots whose heels press against the rock. A dry piece of driftwood rises behind his right shoulder, rooted into the base.
