The child lies on his side with the head lifted, both arms raised and the palms open, the right knee drawn up. The body is left in a soft flesh tone, with only a blue cloth crossing the hips and gathering into folds by the feet. Dark curls are modelled in deep coils, and a flat halo with gilded rays is fixed behind the head. The figurine rests directly on a turned wooden base, without a porcelain plinth.
