Laid out in the crib, the Child raises the left arm, bends the right at the chest and turns the head to the side. The bedding runs in two layers: white linen dotted with gold stars and a blue coverlet edged in gold thrown across the legs. Straw pushes out from beneath the cloth in thick strands and hangs over the sides. The crib itself is painted with gilt scrollwork on white, carried around all four panels.
