Marshal on Horseback

Seated at a half-turn, the officer keeps his right hand at the waist and lets the left drop toward the rein. Gold embroidery covers the chest and cuffs of the blue coat, a red sash crosses the shoulder, and the black bicorne with gilt edging is set low on the brow. The white horse lifts a foreleg and turns its head outward over a blue saddlecloth banded in gold. Modelled grass and small flowers cover the ground before the plinth.
