Shoemaker

The shoemaker leans into his work: the leather upper held in his right hand, the knife travelling along its edge in his left. A red waistcoat sits over a blue shirt, and the white apron falls to the floor. To his left a heavy-legged bench carries lasts, jars and small tools, while a wooden pail of forms stands on the other side. Offcuts, rolled hides and finished shoes crowd the ground around him.
