Baby Jesus (Small)

The Child rests on a bed of straw with both arms lifted and the head turned toward the viewer. He wears a short blue tunic; a white cloth painted with gold stars and edged in a thin gilt line covers the legs. Behind the head sits a flat halo with gilt rays worked around the inner circle. The straw is modelled in long separate stalks that fan out behind the shoulders and under the feet, carrying the whole composition.
