Blacksmith

The whole workshop is modelled: a stone forge with its hood and lit fire, shelves of tools, a jug and a copper pan on the masonry. The grey-haired smith, in a grey shirt and sand apron, has the hammer up over the anvil with his other hand holding the work. A boy in a wide-brimmed hat and short trousers stands at the forge on the left, turned toward the flames. Shovels, tongs, horseshoes and offcuts cover the floor around the oak stump.
