Cook (Chef)

The right arm goes straight up, an oval platter with a whole fish balanced on the open palm. A scorched white apron is tied over dark trousers, a red kerchief at the neck and a tall toque above. To the left a rough stone hearth burns in two openings, a long-handled broom leaning against it. A grey spaniel sits at his feet, and jugs and bottles crowd the counter on the right. The floor is laid in small ochre tiles.
