Boy with a Mandolin (the Lovers)

The young man sits on a piece of driftwood with the mandolin laid across his raised knee, right hand at the rose, left closed around the pegged neck. His cream shirt hangs open and the terracotta trousers are rolled back above bare feet. The instrument body is painted in light ochre with fine incised ornament along the soundboard. Small pink and blue flowers are scattered across the rocky base.
