Shepherd Boy with a Pipe (the Lovers II)

The boy sits on a weathered branch, the double pipe held to his lips and the fingers of both hands spread along the two tubes. He wears a rust-and-brown checked shirt, dark shorts patched at the knee and a soft grey hat pushed to the back of his head. On the broken stump at his left a white dove has settled and turned its head towards him. His bare feet press against the rocky base.
