Golgotha. The Descent from the Cross

The scene spreads across three rock tiers on a long oval base. At the centre the cross carries the INRI plaque and a ladder, with the body lowered into waiting arms and women in yellow and blue reaching up. A separate group stands to the left: two women and an elder in a red robe, with a soldier crouched at the edge. On the right an elder in a turban talks with two women, while guards bend over an open book and a discarded cloak.
