Paradise Lost (Adam and Eve)

Eve stands against the trunk and reaches upward for an apple, her other hand lowered toward Adam. He half reclines on the rocks, propped on one elbow, offering his hand — the fingers almost meet. The tree rises over both figures, carrying finely modelled apples and foliage on its branches. White lilies open at the roots and a peacock stands to the right with its tail spread. A Capodimonte sculptural group built entirely around one touch that does not happen.
