The trunk rises nearly upright and opens at the tip, catching the animal at the moment it trumpets. The head tilts a little, the ears lie back along the shoulders, and a single long pale tusk emerges beneath the trunk. The body is heavy, the legs set apart with the right hind leg trailing. Colour is matt steel-grey with darker washes pooling in the knee folds and along the belly, while brow and back stay smooth. An oval wooden base carries the weight.
