Boy with Geese

The goose has settled along his forearm, neck stretched out flat, and both hands close beneath its white body. He tips his head down toward the bird, a striped cap slipping to the back of his curls. A loose green smock hangs over rust-red trousers tucked into dark boots. A woven basket rides at his right elbow with two yellow goslings craning out of it, and the rocky base, scattered with small blue flowers, is finished with a gilt scroll.
