Carmen

The dancer is held at the top of the movement, both arms raised overhead with castanets in her fingers and the body turned half away. Her black dress is scattered with white dots and the skirt opens into three tiers of flounces lined in red, with two full roses pinned at the hip. More roses sit in her dark hair beside a red drop earring, and a black heel shows below the hem. The tiers of ruffles carry the silhouette and give it its broad footing.
