The Mona Lisa

The painter sits half-turned on a low stool, a loaded palette in his left hand and the brush lifted in his right, his eyes on the canvas. The easel carries the portrait of the Mona Lisa, fully painted down to the landscape behind her, and a heavy white drape falls at its side. A green robe with slashed sleeves, pale hose and black shoes make up nearly all the colour on the figure. Pigment sacks, mortars and bundled brushes stand about the flagged base.
