Two winged cherubs occupy the upper shell: the dark-haired one props his cheek on a fist, the fair one folds his arms and rests his chin on them. Both lean on a gilded parapet with a fluted underside. The ground behind is painted with grey and white cloud, and the rim of the shell is drawn in gold feathering and dots. Three applied roses sit on the basin, two pink at the sides and a yellow pair at the centre between gilt cartouches.
