Wild Run to Freedom

More than a dozen horses break across a rocky slope in a single surge. On the left the bodies stretch flat in the gallop; on the right one animal rears beside a bare pine, manes and tails lifted by the movement. The palette stays almost monochrome — white coats, pale cream manes, grey-green rock and grass underfoot. The long horizontal base carries the whole group, and the composition holds together from every side, front and flank alike.
