Raphael Madonna (Wall Plaque)

A deep gilded oval frame, carved with ornaments at either side, encloses the relief. Mary is turned half away, both hands supporting the naked Child who braces himself against her knee. A white veil flecked with gold slips over her shoulder, the gown is painted a saturated green and the mantle in ochre. A gilt volute crowns the oval, and modelled grey-blue cloud fills the ground behind the figures.
