Return from the Fields

The white horse walks forward in leather harness hung with chains, mane and tail modelled in long strands. Three figures ride the open trap: a moustached man in a grey hat with his hand on the boy's shoulder, and a woman in a flowered dress and ochre headscarf holding a basket on her lap. The boy stands at the front gripping the whip, a blue bundle at the woman's feet. Red spokes and an iron step finish the wheel.
