The Nativity

The scene is gathered inside a tall niche whose vault opens like a fan and is picked out in gold. Mary, veiled in grey, joins her hands in prayer while the Child sits on her lap; at the left an angel with large white wings kneels beside them. Joseph stands behind in a red cloak, a spray of lilies at his shoulder. A lamb lies at their feet and an empty straw manger sits to the right, the palette cream, grey and muted red.
